Franz Hauk plays Franz Liszt & Max Reger at Selby Abbey

German choral conductor and organist Franz Hauk was raised in Neuburg an der Donau. He attended the Munich College of Music & Theatre focussing on organ and piano. He also studied in Salzburg.

His thesis on church music in 19th century Munich In 1988 led to his doctorate award. Moving to Ingolstadt, he has served as organist and choir director at the Liebfrauenmünster. He has given recitals in the United States and Europe.

Since 2002 he has taught church music and historical performance practices at the Munich College of Music and Theatre. in 2003 he founded the Simon Mayr Choir.
